Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act
The SHCPI/WIOA MYSTATUS Program serves in school youth, who are 16-21 years old and who are seniors at Gentry High School and Thomas Edwards High School. The program will focus on occupational skills training with higher education institutions and assist youth in developing career pathways through high quality education and training that will enable them to enter and advance in the workforce, and pursue education and employment. Participants of the program receive $6.00/hour for work readiness skills training, and occupational skills training and $10.00/hour for 150 hours of work experience.

Our Programs
The WIOA Out of School Program serve sixty (60) out of school youth ages 16-24 in Sunflower (40) and Humphreys (20) Counties. The WIOA Out of School Participants attend work readiness skills training for 15-32 hours a week for a total of 150 hours at a rate of $6.00 per hour and receive work experience training for a total of 200 hours at a rate of pay of $10.00 per hour once work readiness skills training is completed
The WIOA In School Program serve twenty-six (26) high school seniors of Sunflower County Consolidated School District, ages 16-21, who are interested in one of the following occupational skills training courses-Pharmacy Technology and General Construction/Welding Fabrication at MDCC Capps Technology Center. The WIOA In School Participants attend a total of 60 hours of work readiness skills training at a rate of $6.00 per hour, and receive work experience training for a total of 150 hours at a rate of pay of $10.00 per hour once work readiness skills training is completed.
Both WIOA Out of School and In School Programs provide services that increase participants’ employability prospects and assist youth with overcoming a variety of employment barriers and developing a range of skills needed to make an effective labor market adjustment. Youth develop career pathways through quality education and training that will enable them to pursue education and employment goals and enter and advance in the workforce. Participants are taught fundamental skills needed to enter and progress in the world of work.
To enroll in the WIOA MYSTATUS Out of School Program, a participant must be 16-24 years of age and not enrolled in any school or training.
To enroll in the WIOA MYSTATUS In School Program, a participant must be 16-21 years of age, classified as a high school senior, and has a desire to enroll in occupational skills training with a higher education institution or training program.
Interested youth can complete an application and submit the following required eligibility documentation:

WIOA Participants & Activities
Our participants engage in learning and work activities. We support building workforce skills and empowering people to enter the workforce.
